Hotel Elephant Weimar

The hotel today combines beautiful Art Déco details, impressive Bauhaus architecture and contemporary works by internationally renowned artists such as Elvira Bach, Rainer Fetting and Georg Baselitz.

The creative Italian cuisine of the Anna Amalia restaurant is well-known throughout the region. It has been awarded a Michelin star, and was listed in the top 10 restaurants in Germany by Der Feinschmecker (a leading German gourmet magazine). It has also received 17 points by Gault et Millau. During the summer, you can dine outdoors on the idyllic terrace. Please note that the restaurant is closed on the evenings of Sunday and Monday.

The cosy, traditional Elephantenkeller serves Thuringian specialities and draught beers. Wooden furniture and candlelight create a unique atmosphere in the cellar here, where Goethe himself once enjoyed a drink. Please note this restaurant is closed on Wednesdays.

The stylish Elephant Bar offers a wonderful view of Weimar’s historic marketplace. Coffee and cakes are served in the afternoon, and later on you can enjoy after-dinner drinks and cocktails. The bar is open daily from 10:00 to 01:00.

Boasting a tasteful selection of literature and music, the hotel’s wood-panelled library with soft leather chairs invites you to savour a quality wine or cigar in front of the fire place.

Within walking distance of the Hotel Elephant Weimar, you find the Ginkgo-Museum, Weimar Palace (Stadtschloss), Herderkirche church, the congress centre and the national theatre. You are also just a few steps from the former homes of Schiller and Goethe.

Weimar is 2.5 hours from the business metropolis of Frankfurt am Main. The closest airport, Erfurt, is only 25 km away.

- Take the A4 motorway and exit at Weimar
- Once you enter Weimar, continue straight ahead until you reach the end of Berkaer Strasse (at the traffic lights)
- Turn left into Belvederer Allee/ Marienstrasse and head towards the centre ("Zentrum")
- Before you reach the second set of traffic lights, turn right at Wielandplatz (you will see a statue on the left-hand side of this square) to enter Ackerwand
- Follow the course of the road, which curves round to the left
- To your right you will see the city park
- Continue past the "Herzogin Anna Amalia-Bibliothek" library and you will come to the "Platz der Demokratie"
- Keep to the left, and in 30 metres you will reach the entrance to our car park

- Alternatively, exit at Weimar Legefeld and continue along Erfurter Straße
- Continue straight ahead towards the city centre ("Stadtzentrum")
- Follow the main road, which turns right into Gropiusstraße after the German National Theatre and then turns left into Steubenstraße
- At Wielandplatz (you will see a statue on the left-hand side of this square) turn left into Ackerwand

Please note that the mandatory culture tax is not included in the room rate. It costs EUR 2 per person per night in the single room, and EUR 1.50 per person per night in double rooms. This must be paid in cash on arrival.
